Schlumberger Foundation Awards Ph.D. Candidate Claris Sunjo $50,000 Faculty for the Future Fellowship

The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences is proud to celebrate Ph.D. student Claris Sunjo, who has been awarded the highly competitive 2026–2027 Faculty for the Future Fellowship from the Schlumberger Foundation. This distinguished international award provides $50,000 in support of her research studies.

The Faculty for the Future Fellowship recognizes exceptional women from developing and emerging economies who are pursuing advanced degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) at leading institutions around the world. Recipients are selected not only for their outstanding scientific achievement and leadership, but also for their demonstrated commitment to advancing STEM education and expanding opportunity in their home regions. 

This honor places Sunjo among a global cohort of scholars poised to shape the future of STEM research and leadership. Her work reflects the core of what our department strives to cultivate: rigorous science, global perspective, and meaningful impact.
