T-Rex Skull and Saber-Toothed Cat Exhibit Now Displayed in the Earth and Physical Sciences Building Lobby

The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences is excited to announce the installation of our stunning T-Rex fossil head in the lobby of the Earth and Physical Sciences building! This remarkable replica, cast from the famous "Black Beauty" fossil at the Royal Tyrrell Museum, was made possible through a successful Crowdfund campaign led by our faculty member, David Gold.

In addition, we’ve relocated our saber-toothed cat fossil, Smilodon californicus, into the lobby for faculty, students, and visitors to view upon entry. With its impressive canines and Ice Age legacy, this fearsome predator provides a glimpse into our planet's dynamic history. It is also California's state fossil.

We invite you to come by and tour our fossil collection while learning more about the world of paleontology. Visit fossils.ucdavis.edu for more information.
