INTERNSHIPS AND CO-OPS
Internships are work-learn experiences in a professional environment outside the classroom where students can explore career areas, gain practical skills, and make industry contacts. An internship is a learning experience which supports a student's academic and career goals. It is guided, supervised and evaluated by professionals. Internships vary from 4 to 40 hours per week; are voluntary or paid; and range from 10 weeks to 12 months.
Co-Ops usually require six months of full time work in which students are assigned in-depth projects allowing them to fine tune their skills and develop excellent relationships with colleages. Most co-ops are paid positions. In order to complete a Co-Op, students will need to go to Room 12 MRAK Hall and fill out the forms for Planned Educational Leave Program (PELP) on or before the first day of the quarter you plan to take leave. Students may request only 1 quarter off. Please visit the Registrar's website for more information regarding PELP.

ENGINEERING WEEK
During this week, engineers around the country look to showcase the engineering profession to students across the nation. At UC Davis, the student members of the Engineering Joint Council (EJC) plan and organize E-Week events with assistance from each of the Engineering clubs. E-Week will be held in February 18-24, 2007. Please visit their Web site for more info: http://eweek.engineering.ucdavis.edu
STUDENT CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
Getting involved with a student club is a great way to find out more about different majors. Clubs also give you an opportunity to meet people who have similar academic interests. The best time to join a club is at the beginning of each quarter. This is when most clubs have socials or meetings where they discuss the quarterly activities and introduce the club officers and members. A list of Engineering and Physical Sciences clubs is available at the EPS Student Advisor office at 207 South Hall.
